I LOVE YOU 2023 Movie Rating: 6/10 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Story: Businesswoman Satya Prabhakar and her fiance Vishal start a new chapter in their lives. But fate had other plans and Satya found himself alone and confined to his workplace. The danger that threatens him is what keeps the viewers hooked on what happens to him.
Review: Writer-director Nikhil Mahajan, who has directed many Marathi films in the past, marks his Hindi film debut with a 94-minute thriller inspired by similar 90s films like 'Darr' and 'Anjaam'. Although popular songs are e.g. Among others, 'Tu Mile Dil Khile' and 'Rooth Na Jana Tumse Kahoon Toh' convincingly convey the nostalgic aura of the time, the film does not really give a spine-tingling experience compared to the films of the same genre. Although the story is predictable, it benefits from strong performances that leave an impression. The story wastes no time in establishing its characters and mostly focuses on Satya (Rakul Preet Singh), an independent and strong businesswoman who has just been proposed to by her boyfriend and colleague Vishal (Akshay Oberoi). The couple plans to leave the city for a Diwali vacation, but as the departure time approaches, Satya is unable to reach Vishal or his driver who was supposed to take him to the airport. When he tries to leave the office building under his own power, he realizes that he is locked inside its walls and no one is around. Panicking about the options, Satya calls his close friend and colleague Rishabh Oberoi aka RO (Pavail Gulati) who works in the technical department of the same office. When RO arrives to help her, their situation takes a nasty turn when they discover a dead body - and several more as the night progresses. Satya's life is irrevocably changed as he struggles to survive that tragic night that could change everything.
Pavail Gulati gives a strong performance as RO, convincingly conveying the dark undertones of his character. He keeps the audience on the edge of their seats and his performance during Jumma Chumma De De is simply amazing. Rakul Preet Singh does not shy away from digging into her survival instincts and runs away from moments of panic and doubt. Incredible performances by both Gulati and Singh keep the viewers glued to the screen. Akshay Oberoi makes his presence felt in his limited role.
Overall, I Love You is a song that is easily predictable from the start. But its fast-paced script and impressive performances make it worth your time.
