Lookout Season 1 2017 Review

Lookout Season 1 Rating: 6.5/10 ⭐⭐+

Lookout is a South Korean crime drama series that aired on MBC in 2017. The show follows a group of vigilantes who band together to take down criminals who have evaded justice. With its fast-paced action, engaging storyline, and top-notch acting, Lookout quickly became a favorite among fans of the crime  genre. In this review, we take a closer look at Lookout Season 1.

Story: The series begins with the tragedy of  prosecutor  Jang Do-han (Kim Young-kwang), a serial killer who lost his family. He then teams up with a group of civilians who have been wronged at the hands of criminals. Together they form a vigilante group called the Lookout, whose purpose is to seek justice for  victims whose legal system has failed to protect them.

Review: This group includes former detective Cho Su-ji (Lee Si-young) and hacker Seo Bomi (Kim Seul-gi). The team's pursuit of justice leads them down a perilous path, risking lives  as they deal with powerful and ruthless criminals. Provides powerful performance that brings Kim Young-kwang, who plays Jang Do-han, expresses various emotions as he confronts the loss of his family and the pursuit of justice. Lee Si-young is just as impressive as Cho Su-ji, a badass and determined detective  haunted by her own past.

Kim Seulgi also deserves a special mention for his portrayal of Seo Bomi, a seasoned hacker who provides  valuable information and technical support to the team. The chemistry between the actors is palpable, which makes their interactions all the more engaging.

Director:

Director Song Hyun Suk does an excellent job of creating a dark and brooding atmosphere that fits the crime genre perfectly. He keeps the tempo fast and twists and turns to keep the audience on edge. The action scenes are well-choreographed and intense, adding to the tension of the series as a whole.

Overall Impression:

Lookout is a well-crafted and engaging crime thriller that  fans of the genre will enjoy. The series delves into  complex issues of justice and revenge, exploring the moral gray areas that exist in the pursuit of justice. The characters are well-developed and multi-dimensional, making it easy for the viewer to relate to their struggles and motivations.

One of the strengths of this series is its balance of action and emotional depth. The show's dramatic moments are just as compelling as the action scenes, providing a balanced viewing experience. The series also tackles major social issues such as corruption and abuse of power, adding  meaning to the story.

Conclusion:

Overall, Lookout Season 1 is a must-read for anyone who enjoys a good crime thriller. With its strong performances, tight direction, and engaging plot, the series stands out in the crowded K-drama landscape. The show strikes a good balance between action and drama, resulting in a well-rounded viewing experience that is both entertaining and thought-provoking. I strongly recommend it.
