Afwaah Review: Sudhir Mishra's Afwaah (Rumour Meaning) examines the dangers and effects of grapes, especially in the age of social media. Violence and fake news can spread like wildfire on social media and affect many people's lives. The film highlights how easily people believe and pass on information that reinforces their prejudices without checking the facts. It also provides insight into the role of power dynamics in debunking rumors that selfish and diverse individuals use to manipulate public opinion. The opening sequence, set in Rajasthan, sees Vicky Singh (Sumeet Vyas), an aspiring politician and power-hungry fanatic, use his right-hand man Chandan (Shalib Hashmi) to attack a rally. It depicts the organization of But if everything were taped at the same time and broadcast on all news channels, his reputation and the party owned by his future father-in-law, Gyan Singh, aka Hukum, would be completely ruined. This annoys Hukum's daughter Nivi (Bumi Pednekar), who decides to run away without marrying Vicky because she doesn't like dirty politics. On the run, a small act of kindness by Nivi and Rahab (Nawazuddin Siddiki) turns into a rumor that ruins their lives. Despite her efforts to prove her innocence, her social media influence and the prejudices of her people continue to work against her. The story mostly revolves around how they get out of this chaotic and complicated situation with the whole town ready to hunt them down and nowhere to hide. Ahwa, Sudhir's second appearance with Nawazuddin Siddiki after 2020's Serious Men, once again wins hearts with a much-needed impact, yet understated performance. Bhoomi Pednekar shines with a bold and regal demeanor that contrasts with Nawaz's demeanor. Smeet Vyas skillfully plays a power-hungry politician. Shalib Hashmi and Sumit Kaur (Captain Sandeep) play evil characters who can launch attacks and slaughter people as part of their evil plans. Your work is truly outstanding. Even if the dialogue is easy to forget, the expressions on the characters' faces during the emotionally charged scenes testify to their acting prowess. The film contains few dialogues in Rajasthani dialects (the terms banna and hukum are still used in Rajasthan), which lends realism to the narration. There are twists and turns, all of which are predictable enough yet engaging, but while the first half is fast-paced, it feels stretched after the intermission. Cinematographer Mauricio Vidal masterfully captures the essence of Rajasthan with its darkened streets and beautifully shot Nahargarh Fort. "Aaj Yeh Basant" by Rajasthani folk singers Mame Khan and Snetra Banerjee has a deep sound and emphasizes the irony of life. There is no doubt that loose chatter and the spread of stories unsupported by facts and truth can often affect people's lives and society as a whole. This film manages to highlight the influence of such awaa. However, the climax could have been a little more pleasant and had a stronger impact. "There are rumors of Fikar Kise Hai, Na Failaan Were Ko Na San Ne Were Ko." That is the sad truth. So consider what you believe and watch this ahwa.
