Zara Hatke Zara Bachke Story: A young Indore couple decides to divorce in order to qualify to buy a house under a government program. But things don't go as planned and there are consequences. Will loving couples reconcile or go their separate ways?
Zara Hatke Zara Bachke Review: A small-town romantic comedy with quirky characters and an outrageous plot that makes for an interesting premise. A directorial project directed by Laxman Utekar pretty much meets these criteria. Viewers are guaranteed to have a good laugh when they meet Kapil Davey (Vicky Kaushal), his wife Saumya Chawla Davey (Sarah Ali Khan) and their family. Hell erupts when a critic's family accidentally eats an egg cake. When Kapil's mother (Kanupriya Pandit) blames her Punjabi daughter-in-law for the debacle, she reiterates that she wants to escape the constant teasing. And when they were trying to buy a house, it turned out to be an adventure they couldn't afford. Things take a strange turn when Saumya discovers a government plan to buy an apartment. But here comes the problem. Kapil's family owns the house, so he is not eligible. A shady agent, Bhagwan Das (Inamrhak), tells her that if Saumya divorces Kapil, she will qualify for the female quota, and if they are allotted a house, they can remarry. Viewers are then confronted with a fallacy-filled comedy in which a couple pretends to fight to convince their families and a judge that they need to get a divorce. Add a love triangle and a curious security guard, Daroga (Shalib Hashmi), and things get even crazier. The basic plot of the film begins with Kapil and Saumya deciding to take drastic steps, such as separating (albeit on paper) to purchase a house when there is no immediate need. , looks outlandish. The first half of the film is particularly compelling, but it is interrupted by an unconvincingly bombastic title, including scenes in which the two pretend to be brother and sister, and a government official showing up at Saumya's rented apartment for confirmation. is less entertaining. And Kapil is there too. There's a medical emergency track that accents the drama, but it doesn't push the story forward, leading to a climax that feels rushed, but could have played out better. Vicki Kaushal plays a good character and does a good job of keeping the uptight small town guy well behaved. His emotion is perfect in the scene where Kapil and Saumya talk face-to-face in the hospital to sort out their disagreements. Sara Ali Khan isn't playing a middle-class barf or a hot-tempered Punjabi girl. Supporting characters such as Neeraj Soud and Kanupiriya Pandit as Mama and Mama, Inamrhak, Rakesh Bedi as Saumya's father, and Hachalan Chawla and Aakash Khurana as Kapil's father also perform well. Sachin-Zigger's tunes are catchy, and Raghav Ramados' cinematography does a good job of capturing the atmosphere and quirkiness of small towns in Indore. Overall, Zara Hakke Zara Bakke is an entertaining one-off movie thanks to its funny punch lines, quirky characters, and performances. But an unconvincing story and understated script prevent the film from living up to its potential.
