Lavaste Movie Review: A Honest But One-sided Approach to Relationships and Life

Lavaste Movie Rating: 5/10 ⭐

Synopsis: Satyansh (Omkar Kapoor), an engineering graduate in Raipur, moves to Mumbai as he urgently needs a job to support his family. After fighting in the city for a year, he embarks on a job transporting uncollected corpses to crematoria to earn money and discovers a social crisis.

Review: Satianshu takes an uncertain new job and questions the way society works. What about children who are so busy chasing their dreams and successes that they don't mind leaving their parents? Why not visit them  or stay with their parents in  need? The selfishness of some people makes his blood boil, and fate puts him in a similar situation. What would happen if the tides were reversed? Will the protagonist unknowingly leave his parents to pursue a career in another city? Sudhish Kanauziah's Laash ke Vaste (meaning corpse) deals with relevant and important subjects. This topic is often discussed in any household. "Who's going to take care of  you when you're old?" What if you die alone? ’ A pre-planned memorial service may be the need of the times. The  heart and intent of this film are in the right place. Most importantly, the show has an empathetic  male protagonist, something that rarely happens in a world where kindness is perceived as a weakness.  What undermines any sincere commitment is the film's monotonous, one-sided approach to relationships and life. It tries to be  satire and tragedy, but it functions strictly as a family drama. This narration is a step further than Baghbang and feels a bit outdated as it burdens children who refuse to see themselves only as a savior or a solution to all their parents' problems (Budapé Ka Sahara ). As long as the story follows the broader idea, it's okay to expect humanity and responsibility. Having children as an investment in your old age is also a deal, and it comes with conditions. The document misses that important conflict and counter-argument. It offers a moving yet preachy lesson in loving your parents. Parents may not be able to listen when their children are struggling or lack peace of mind. Omkar Kapoor seems too hygienic for this setting, but he is serious and likable. Manoj Joshi plays a key role and brings the story to life. Brigendra Kalla is a humorous yet heartfelt person. Despite its shortcomings, Lavaste is observable in its intent and subject matter.
